Jesse had a hard time keeping a job. To be sure, due to her lassitude and lack of drive, she was out of work far more frequently than she was in a state of employment. And when she did find a job, she had an exceedingly difficult time getting to work when her shift started, she regularly received less than acceptable performance evaluations, and she called off sick so often that she almost always got fired a week or two after she started working. Not surprisingly, one of the results of Jesse’s less than passing work track record was the fact that she was just about flat broke from day-to-day.

In spite of Jesse’s terrible employment record and financial misbehavior, conversely, in some way she made it a point to drink a great deal from day-to-day. Not surprisingly, her abusive drinking also led to problems coping with the grief of her divorce.

Because of her careless drinking, it came as no big shock when Jesse received a fourth DWI. When she went before the court, the judge explained to Jesse that her alcohol-related actions was disgraceful and, as a consequence, he was going to sentence Jesse to serve eleven months in the municipal jail.

Time While Locked Up In Jail To Reflect On The Harmful Results of Abusive Drinking

During her time in the county jail, Jesse was expected to learn more about alcohol facts, about the harmful results of thoughtless drinking, and she was expected to get alcohol rehab. The magistrate accentuated the fact that unless Jesse receives professional alcohol therapy and discovers how to live a life of abstinence, she will more likely than not be spending a considerable amount of time incarcerated in jail.

Jesse articulated that she grasped what the judge was proclaiming but she still claimed that placement in the city jail was not the most realistic sentence. The judge thought otherwise and declared that it was his job to keep alcoholics off the streets who drive under the influence and who get arrested for multiple DWIs. To corroborate this view, the judge articulated some venerable, highly researched alcohol statistics that highlighted some of the harmful effects that are linked to abusive and excessive drinking.

Even though Jesse understood that she drank in an abusive manner, she never felt that she was alcohol dependent. So it was a real bombshell when Jesse began having symptoms of alcohol withdrawal around six-and-a-half hours after after getting locked up in the city jail.

To monitor her alcohol withdrawal symptoms in a safe manner, Jesse was life flighted to a drug and alcohol rehabilitation hospital for alcohol detoxification and then returned to the local jail. While locked up in the municipal jail Jesse got a mental health examination for her depression and got alcohol treatment but since she received this rehabilitation as something that was imposed upon her, she was unsuccessful in taking ownership of her hazardous and excessive drinking.

When her time behind bars was completed, the judge without faltering announced to Jesse that she would be under close surveillance and would be mandated to take periodic random breath alcohol tests.

After hearing how Jesse neglected to take ownership of her drinking circumstances and how she reluctantly followed the therapy procedures while in the municipal jail, the magistrate knew that it was just a matter of time before he would be seeing Jesse once again in court about her careless drinking behavior. As the magistrate reflected on Jesse’s situation, he couldn’t help but think about how some individuals never use their brain and learn how to live in an adult and mature manner.
